Scheme of Examination
1.  Theory Course
Following scheme of examination shall be applicable for theory courses
A.  Sessional Evaluation (20 marks)
i)  The performance is assessed on the basis of two terminal examinations - 10 marks
ii)  Classes / class-seminar / activity / participation of assignment / project  - 5 marks
iii)  Record of participation in criticism and demonstration classes        - 1 mark
      (Observation book)
iv)  Record of participation in community life activity - 1 mark
v)  Record of practice teaching - 1 mark
vii)  Record of psychology practical - 1 mark

B.  Final Examination (80 marks):
i)  The question papers shall be set and the answer-scripts shall be evaluated by the teachers appointed
by the Board of Examination, Kolhan University
ii) Time allowed for examination is three hours.
iii)  Eight questions are to be set in each paper.
iv)  Students will be required to answer only five questions in each paper.
v)  First question will be compulsory, objective type, consisting of eight questions carrying 2 marks each.

C.  The method papers I and II respectively will be allotted to the students on basis of the subjects
pursued by them in graduation and post graduations.  The method papers include:
Language :  English and Hindi
Science: Physical Science, Life-science and Mathematics
Social Science:  History, Geography, Civics and Economics

D.  If a candidate appears in the optional paper, the marks obtained in optional paper over and above 50
marks will be added to the aggregate marks of all compulsory papers to determine the class / division.
2.  Practice Teaching
The respective weightages of the various components of Core Course Practical are indicated against
their names:

Note: a)  The concerned head of the schools where student teaching is taking place shall provide to
the head of the college with a report of attendance and feedback of the performance of the
prospective teachers taking feedback from the school students. b)  Evaluation of Student’s
performance at the activity above will be done by one external examiner as decided by the Board of
Examination, Kolhan University. c)  The marks of final teaching is distributed between the two
method papers as 100 marks each.

1.  In the practical examination that carries 200 marks the candidate is required to deliver one lesson in
each of the two subjects of methodology selected by him / her.
2.  In order to pass the candidate shall be required to obtain 33% in each theory paper and 40% in each
practical paper, provided he/she has obtained at least 6 marks out of 20 allotted for the sessional marks
and 24 marks in the written examination except in paper VI in which marks obtained should be 8 and 32
3.  Other regulations will remain same as adopted by the Kolhan University earlier.

A graduates may apply with College Leaving Certificate.
B) As per NCTE norms, a candidate should have secured at least 50% (45% SC/ST = 45%) marks in
the aggregate at the Bachelor’s degree examination of a recognized University. Registered candidate
will have to undergo a written test. Successful candidates will be called for an interview. An entrance
test is conducted. Selection is based on academic performance in the written test and performance in
the interview. 100 marks are allotted for written test and 50 marks for interview.


The methods are offered subject to Kolhan University regulations.
Arts candidates may select one from Group A and one from Group B.
A science candidate may choose two from Group C - Physical science and any one of the other two.

The Method subjects have to be selected as per Kolhan University norms given below-

1) Candidates who offer English/Hindi/History/Economics/Geography/Life Sciences / Maths as methods
shall have studied the subject at the Bachelors’ Degree or Master's Degree stage. Commerce
candidates may offer Economics.

2)  Those who offer Civics as a method shall have studied, at the degree stage, any one of the following
subjects: Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology.


The college is a recognised IGNOU study centre for M.A. in Education and B.Ed. course. The
workshops for IGNOU students are conducted in the college during the month of May every year. The
college faculty members are involved in the programme as counsellors. About 200 students attended the
summer programme every year.

Arrupe Bhavan Hostel For Women

In the sprawling college campus, a well furnished hostel for women is constructed for women students
studying in Loyola College of Education. The hostel can accommodate about 55 students. The State of
Art college hostel is run by the college management and offers all kinds of facilities to its inmates.

All relevant original certificates must be available with the candidates at the time of admission.  The
following original certificates should be submitted in the office:

1. College Leaving Certificate
2. Registration Number of Kolhan University
3.  Admit card of last exam passed (photo copy)
4. Migration Certificate (if not from Kolhan University)
5. Caste and Income certificate (If SC / ST / BC / OBC)
6. Four copies of recent passport size coloured photos (size 5 x 4 cm) and one stamp size photo
